Forced Induction

When Mazda launched the hugely successful MX-5 in 1989, they forgot one thing: serious power. With a mere 115bhp from the first model it was lively but it lacked real excitement and the punch to overtake with confidence. Thankfully Mazda pre-empted this complaint with what was hidden under the bonnet: the MK1 engine was lifted straight from the celebrated, turbo-charged Mazda 323 GTX.

The 323 engine was already a reliable and bullet proof unit which made it ideal for forced induction, so the Americans took up the challenge in the early 1990s; the Sebring Supercharger kits and Flyin' Miata Turbos that were developed soon turned a nice, little sports car into a performance demon. Horsepower on MK1 cars leapt to between 180 and 250bhp and the performance aftermarket flourished. Everybody could now drive a fast MX-5.

This forced induction technology has come on a long way in the last decade and has meant increased power, reliability and a range of user-controllable features. If you want another useful 60bhp for your car we can provide it; if you want a mighty MX-5 with 250bhp (and upwards) we can manage the transformation.

P5 has researched all the FI systems available and we only bring you the best: we're official UK distributors for the BR Performance MP62 supercharger kit and the Flyin' Miata turbo kit. Because we have a close relationship with these US manufacturers, you can trust our advice and experience. If something new is coming along, improvements are on the way or prices are changing, we'll know, and consequently you'll know, about it first.

You'll probably have a whole bunch of questions about fitting a 'blower' to your pride and joy, so give us a call first on 0845 230 4505 to discuss the options. You'll get honest, technical advice and no pressure to buy anything. We want you to feel ready before we turn your lively roadster into something that will give you supreme confidence and an ear-to-ear smile next time you lean on the gas pedal.
