P5 SportDrive Frame Rail Reinforcement Kit

A rigid chassis is key to getting the MX-5 suspension to work properly, but unfortunately the factory frame rails normally take a beating throughout their life. Rather than have the chassis flexing and acting like an un-damped spring, our frame rails not only restore but add extra chassis rigidity which allows inputs to be controlled by the components that were designed for the job; the springs and dampers. Expect better damper control and less scuttle shake.

Designed using SolidWorks our frame rails are constructed from laser cut 2mm 304 grade stainless steel for corrosion protection. They fit over the existing chassis rails and are bolted up through the floor in eight places each side. They are so strong, that in simulated testing a 1000N load only deformed them by 62.83 microns! Further rigidity can be added with our frame rail brace kit that will be available shortly.

Fits M1, M2 and M2.5. Complete with all fixing hardware and an introductory price!

Update 22nd April

Well, the changes took a little longer to address than we thought due to our workload. We've now tweaked the design to fit all years and have added 4 mounting holes per side, so there are now 12 per side in total. We'll laser cut a final test set and then go into production.

Update 14th March

We have received and test fitted two prototype rails. There's some tweaking to do to fit the M2.5 models correctly, but we're very pleased with overall fitment. We're now measuring up fitment points for our cross brace that will add further rigidity. We hope to have these ready for release within 4 weeks.
