Flyin' Miata Frame Rails and Butterfly Brace
Mazda added some additional bracing on the 2001+ Sport models to stiffen up the chassis, just under the gearbox. The FM rails and brace does exactly the same thing, but also reinforces the frame rails. It ties both sides of the car together and "closes the box" for the transmission tunnel.
The brace is made of laser-cut stainless steel that is folded and stiffened with ribs on the back side. The centre section is adjustable for height to clear almost any exhaust and FM tried to build in as much adjustment as possible, but please contact us to ensure you exhaust set-up will be compatible. In most cases, ground clearance is not affected. The fuel lines and rear brake lines are tucked away and protected from impact. If the exhaust or transmission needs to be removed, the centre section can be unbolted for full access. 16 holes need to be drilled for installation.
Fits all MX-5s, although the 2001-05 Sport model are already equipped with something similar from the factory. Weighs just under 13kgs, all below the centre of gravity of the car and well centred for the minimum effect on handling. Cars with a stock exhaust manifold will require some trimming to a factory heatshield.

Flyin' Miata Shock Tower Brace
This brace ties the top suspension mounts together to
tighten up the front suspension. Steering response is
sharper and helps to eliminate aftershocks after hitting
bumps.
There are cheaper braces on the market, but we've yet to
find one that compares. The bar is forged aluminium and
as straight as possible, other brace have bars that can
be flexed with your hands, not convincing when you
consider the forces involved with suspension. The bar
support design is also important and the FM STB features
a complete 360 degree base that prevents the supports
from lifting under force. The bar is mounted between a
double shear, rather than on the end of a single shear.
