Damper Testing - Dynamometer

At P5 we use our own in-house SPA Dynamometer to develop and test our own dampers, and carry out testing on other dampers. Running the latest software, we are able to replicate a wide range of shaft velocities from 1.5mm per second upwards. With such emphasis on low speed interrogation, we're able to see how your dampers are performing (or not as the case may be!) in the real world.

Each damper is tested at a variety of shaft speeds and adjustment stiffness, if equipped. A paper and electronic copy of the test is produced along with a report and recommendation. This type of test is useful to compare damping from one unit to another that has a plethora of adjustment. Some dampers will come with their own Dyno Report from new, but normally the results are just minimum and maximum stiffness displayed as Force vs Position, which offers little insight into the performance of the unit. Our Report will pin-point similar damper performance at said adjustments, particularly useful to those competing in one of the MX-5 race series.
